Southsea Debenhams
Client: National Regional Property Group

Mission Town Planning, working with National Regional Property Group, (a developer based on the South Coast) delivered a housing led mixed-use
scheme in place of a former Debenhams building.
Working with the HGP Architects, a scheme and strategy were devised to provide a high-quality development; utilising the existing basement for parking; retaining the façade to ensure integration with the area; keeping the ground floor for commercial, retail and community uses, with the provision of a Doctors surgery. A further two floors were placed on the existing building and set back to reduce their impact on the Streetscene.

The site was constrained in a tight urban setting, within a conservation area, and directly abutting Grade II Listed buildings.
Planning permission was granted at committee, having negotiated with officers and changing their original recommendation. The scheme is now on site and is scheduled for completion in mid-2026.
